Come sapete faccio parte del Board di YEX – Young Executives Committee​, un gruppo che riunisce giovani professionisti italiani a New York. Ieri sera abbiamo tenuto un evento in collaborazione con Hudson Yards -che nei prossimi anni diventera’ una delle zone piu’ hot di Manhattan- Fendi Nord America e MaxMara. L’argomento in questione era “Lo sviluppo dell’E-commerce nel mondo della moda“. Una serata bella, illuminante e piena di emozioni.

Sapete, a volte non e’ semplice essere l’unica donna in mezzo ad un gruppo di uomini, ma con la giusta attitudine e personalita’, cercando di essere semplicemente se stessi, tutto diventa fattibile e si abbattono tutte le barriere.

Con grande orgoglio ed emozione vi racconto anche che ieri sera ho presentato io gli speakers ed il nostro moderatore. Ero decisamente nervosa, ma preparata. E cosi’ ho tirato un bel sospirone e poi sono partita. E’ andato tutto bene. E devo ringraziare il corso che sto seguendo per migliorare le mie doti oratorie. Ebbene si, essendomi resa conto della mancanza ho deciso di frequentare un corso che aiuta a migliorare le proprie “public speaking skills“. Consigliatissimo ragazzi.

Ecco: mettetevi in gioco, spingete piu’ in la i vostri limiti, mettetevi alla prova e… sarete stupiti delle cose che raggiungerete! Io non avrei mai pensato qualche anno fa di poter parlare di fronte ad un pubblico di quasi 50 persone, in una lingua non mia, con cosi’ tanta convinzione e passione. Eppure ce l’ho fatta. E se ce l’ho fatta io, anche voi potete!

As you know, I am part of the Board of YEX – The Young Executives Committee of the Italian Chamber of Commerce, a group that gathers young Italian professionals living in NYC. Yesterday evening we had an amazing event in collaboration with Hudson Yards -which will become in the next few years one of the hot places-to-be in the city- Fendi North America and MaxMara. The topic of the evening was “The development of E-commerce in the fashion world“. It was a wonderful evening, illuminating and full of emotions.

Let me tell you: at times it’s not easy to be the only woman in a group of men but with the right attitude and personality, trying to simply be myself, everything becomes easy and all barriers fall.

With great pride I’d like to report that I was the lucky one chosen to present our guests speakers and our moderator. I was certainly nervous, and prepared. I sighed and then I started to talk. It was all good. And for this I have to thank the course I have been taking to improve my public speaking skills. I highly recommend it guys.

The lesson here is: put yourselves out there, push yourselves guys. Challenge yourselves and… you’ll be surprised at what you can achieve! Only a few years ago, I could have never thought that I would be speaking in front of a public of about 50 people, in a language that isn’t my first one,  with such conviction and passion. Well, I did it. And if I made it, you can too!
